I paid my first visit to the Mann Center in Philadelphia after winning tickets from @TheArtsInPhilly to see Return to Forever IV. The band was smoking! Chick Corea, Jean-Luc Ponty, Stanley Clarke, Frank Gambale and Lenny White brought a spiritual energy that uplifted the audience of this spacious outdoor concert amphitheater.

Josh Lawrence and Orrin Evans collaborated forces this past month at the Kimmel Center for the the Philadelphia International Festival of the Arts’ Jazz Appreciation Day Concert. Joined by alto saxophonist Mike Cemprola, bassist Micah Jones and drummer Michael De Castro, the stellar quintet performed a mix of original compositions and standard repertoire.
